Xenith - An Interview

It's been a while, and I apologise greatly, but with mock exams and a hell of a lot of photography coursework, I've hardly found the time to breathe. But I'm back, (but better than ever? that's for you to decide), with an interview from a snazzy band I came across on Instagram.

Xenith are an American brother-sister band that specialise in psychedelic tunes and wicked guitar riffs and drum beats. Like Sunflower Bean and Wolf Alice? Give these guys a try.

When I think Xenith, I think 'Zenith' - an astronomical term. Where did you get your band name from and what is it's meaning?

Zenith is the highest point in heaven raised by the heavens by a celestial body. We named the band Xenith because Nirvana was already taken and we had to find something just as good or closer! (haha) The story also goes as we were driving down the street, and we looked up and saw a sign that said “Zenith” and it intrigued us. We looked up the definition and knew it was a perfect fit for our band and what our vision was. So we changed the Z to a X to make it our own and different!

A Little Thank you...

This year has been a tough one, made survivable only by the people who blessed my world and stuck around with me through everything. I met a lot of amazing people; most notably being Josie, Alana, Shea, Sam, Chlo, Lauren, Liv and Lottie. I've seen some of my favourite bands live, met some brilliant musicians, and had a lot of opportunities under my wing with this blog (here's to hopefully many more in 2018).

I don't have a lot of new years resolutions, I don't want to put that pressure on myself, which can only lead to inevitable disappointment;

- Go on more adventures with Josie
- See more of Alana and Shea
- Hug my friends every day to remind them that they're loved
- To go to more gigs (and to continue meeting new people)
- To recover !!!
- To get into palm reading, tarot cards, and studying Wiccans and Pagan Witchcraft
- To focus on my A-levels

2017: The Year Of The Photographer

2017 has been eventful, in the best way possible, from meeting new people, to rekindling old friendships, to meeting someone special and working with some of my favourite musicians - 2017 had it all.

So let's work chronologically.

I finally saw some of my favourite bands live - Two Door Cinema Club, Sundara Karma and Anteros!

I completely changed up my look, I cut off my hair into a short bob (got rid of the blue and purple dip-dye) and got a fringe! It was a transformation and a half.

Nina Nesbitt 21/11/2017

Venue; Manchester Sound Control
Status; Limited ticket availability
Support Act; Goody Grace

Teenage girls in 2013 were either obsessed with One Direction, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus (etc), for me it was Nina Nesbitt. The first time I saw Nina irl, was at her signing tour after the release of her debut album Peroxide, so many people turned up, it was absolutely insane (after queuing for around four hours I met her and got the album signed).

The second was at her Manchester show at the Methodist hall, it was honestly one of the most beautiful nights of my life, atmosphere wise - it's amazing, never have I experienced crowd synchronicity like I have at a Nina concert - it was like we were one big family.

Redondo dos!

Wolf Alice have always been that band for me - that band that I thought I'd never get to see live, it'd be too surreal - like I'd be in denial that I was there? To be honest, I'd always worried about seeing them live, I'd hyped it up so much in my head, and I adore their music, and I was low-key anxious that they wouldn't be as good in real life, and that the magic would be gone in a split second - but this wasn't the case.
